About
Gathering · The Nature Path Anchored in Black Beauty by Anna Sewell The year opens with a horse telling his own story, and the girls walking a Nature Path beside him. Each week arrives at a new stop (Justice Grove is one), with a theme drawn from Beauty's life: care, fairness, boundaries, using your voice, recognizing harm. Chapters split between in-class read-aloud and at-home reading, and every stop sends home a Home Connection page with a family interview prompt, reflection questions, and a drawing prompt, so the learning keeps going at the dinner table. Morning academics build vocabulary and first-person voice; afternoons bring in guest teachers for equine sketching, movement, and hands-on care. The inquiry: What does it mean to be cared for, and to care for another living thing?
